How to Choose a Tailoring or Fashion Designing Class

With so many tailoring, embroidery and fashion designing classes around, it is hard to know which one is worth your time and fees. Use this checklist to compare classes fairly – whether you are looking in Virar, Vasai, Nalasopara or anywhere else.

Start with your goal

Decide what you want at the end: a skill for home, a side income, a boutique, or a career in fashion. A short course in one skill is enough for the first two; a boutique or career usually needs several skills or a diploma.

Ten questions to ask every class

  • How many students are in a batch? Smaller batches mean more personal feedback.
  • How much of each class is practical? You learn tailoring and embroidery by doing.
  • What will I have made by the end? Ask to see finished student work and a sample syllabus.
  • Who teaches, and what is their experience?
  • What is included in the fee – materials, kits, tools – and what will I have to buy?
  • How are fees structured: admission fee, monthly fee or full-course fee?
  • Do I get a certificate, and what is needed to earn it (for example attendance and completed assignments)?
  • What are the batch timings, and what happens if I miss a class?
  • Can I visit and watch a class before I join?
  • What are the next steps if I want to continue to a higher course?

Warning signs

  • Promises of guaranteed jobs or guaranteed income
  • A vague syllabus that cannot be shown on paper
  • Mostly theory, with very little time at the machine, frame or dress form
  • Pressure to pay the whole fee immediately without seeing the class

How Maker’s School answers these questions

Our classes are practical and hands-on, with small batches – Aari Work is limited to six students and each Specialization track to ten. Every course page lists the syllabus and fees, for example tailoring at ₹500 admission plus ₹2,500 per month. Students who keep at least 80% attendance and complete all practical assignments earn their certificate.

The best way to judge any class is to see it. You are welcome to visit our school in Virar West – call or WhatsApp us first so we can confirm a time.
